Lacquered Mirror on the wall.......

Lacquered mirror on the wall........ who's the fairest of them all ? Color is so very subjective, so we don't want to come right out and say that this finish is the "coolest ever ", yet it does possess some strong characteristics that put it in the running. Abit sea green, a smidge of smoky grey, and an elusive fanning of blue give this color a certain confidence and allure. Applied to this vintage mirror, the color is bold but not overbearing. The piece will completely transform a large powder-room renovation.

Urn Form Lamps. (France)

These vintage urn-form lamps have a lot going for them.  Imported to the U.S. in the late 1990's from France, these classically styled lamps have some pretty significant "bling" about them. The polychromatic parcel-gilt finish on these lamps is pretty over the top, then throw in the wonderfully done faux marble paint work on the bases and one is really cooking with gas. Nice solid brass finials. New silk blended shades by Allure.

French Bergere's.

Oh my.........these Louis XVI styled bergere's , circa 1940 are the bomb. Gently carved frames have a slight cerused / glazed finish that has built up through the years, giving the chairs a simple yet elegant patina. The greenish grey velvet is in very nice condition and has lots of life left in it. Wonderful chairs.

French Empire chest of drawers (Petite)

The simplicity of French Empire / Directoire / Beidermeier furniture gets me. I have liked and admired it long before dealing and selling it...........I liked it but did not know much about it at all, and learning  the story behind simple, not fussy French furniture has made me admire it even more. It all has a little panache' but it is pretty simple and useful. That has got to be why it translates so effortlessly into modern interiors. Ciao

Chippendale Style Sofa. (1930's)

I just bought this Chippendale Style Sofa for The Curious Orange Store........It has lots going for it, and has a fresh-air about it......that je ne sais quoi' that we all seek out in material and immaterial possessions
I don't think this piece has had much use over the past few years, as it is extremely clean and sturdy. The white , tone on tone damask fabric is clean and ready for the home.

19th Century Sheraton Windsor Chairs. (6)

This set of 6 mid 19th Century Sheraton Windsor chairs of oak are both useful and stylish, timeless and sturdy ; Traits that are hard to come by when searching for antique seating. I'm 6'5" and can easily sit in these chairs, a child would find them comfortable as an everyday chair from which to eat. These chairs are equally at home in a loft as they are in a cabin. These chairs look great with an industrial / metal factory table, and yet look perfectly at home with a large rustic French table. You get the point. They are timeless in design and will look great and function well in a multitude of homes. Ciao.

19th Century Giltwood Console.

I have console issues.....and control issues. I am starting to think that there is nothing to be done about the latter. In regard to the consoles.......I buy them for The Curious Orange Store, they sell pretty quickly, and I buy more. Good right ? Not when you want to keep all of them. Stack them up in the basement. Straight up hoarding is pretty much what I would be up to without my store.......and here lies the crux of my rant ; Thanks all you patrons of The Curious Orange Store for keeping it going !!!!

This mid 19th Century console of Giltwood and Carrara marble would do serious work in an upstairs foyer or hall. Have a snazzy bathroom that has an exposed radiator ? Cover that bad boy up with this wonderful antique. Enjoy.
